The Rev. Matt Hansen is the founder of Proclamation Partners. Ordained in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), Matt brings a unique blend of experiences, transitioning from nearly a decade in marketing and advertising to serving as the 33rd pastor of one of North Carolina’s oldest and longest continually operating churches.

His combined expertise in digital strategy and pastoral ministry position him as an ideal partner for organizations aiming to bridge tradition and innovation effectively—because we all know this type of work requires time and a convergence of opinions on the best paths forward.

Before pursuing ministry, Matt specialized in social media strategy and digital communications, working with both well-known brands and agencies as a freelancer and full-time strategist.

Since transitioning to ministry, notable recent projects include leading social media for the 13th Assembly of the Lutheran World Federation in Krakow, Poland; assisting a faith-based outdoor ministry with digital strategy; and supporting numerous churches in implementing church management systems such as Breeze, Tithe.ly, Subsplash, Notebird, and others. During the pandemic, Matt also played a key role in launching the ELCA's inaugural digital-first ministry.

Matt graduated in 2013 from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, earning degrees in political science and sociology. After a decade spent in the Midwest, he returned to his Southern roots to begin his ministry journey. In 2024, he earned a Master of Divinity from the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, SC.

Outside of the church, Matt is passionate about traveling (20 countries so far) and spending quality time with his dogs, Timber and Willow.
